A vacuum cleaner uses an air pump something similar to a powerful fans to push air out the back of the machine. As a result an empty space or vacuum in formed inside the vacuum cleaner. Air rushes in to fill through   the cleaning head. We often say that air is living sucked in the machine but really it is being pushed. The air outside the vacuum cleaner pushes into the empty space created inside and being all the dust and dirt along with it.
