''WHERE AM I PAGE 153'' PART 3
THESE PEOPLE LIVE WHERE KANGAROOS AND LIZARDS
and enormous birds called emus live. They are
very good hunters. They catch animals and birds for
food. They also eat insects that they
find under rocks. They are among the few remaining primitive peoples of the world. Where
are they and why are they?
They are in Australia sometimes called
the land down under. The people are called
aborigines. They were here before anyone
else came to Australia. Most of the other
people in Australia live in large or small
cities very much like the ones we know.
Some Australian families live on cattle
or sheep ranches because these
ranches are so far from town the
children go to school by listening
and talking to their teachers on
two-way radios. And if is sick
the doctor comes to visit
in an airplane. There are
still miles and miles
of unsettled land on
this continent Australia.
