What did I want when I was four?

A windup plane that could dive and soar.

But more than a plane that could soar and dive 

When I was four I  wanted to be five?

What did I want when I was five?

A kitten full of truck to drive.

But more than a truck to drive.

But more than a truck and a kitten full of tricks, 

When I was five I wanted to be six?

What did I want when I was six?

To learn how to skate and a brood of chicks

But more than the chicks and learning how to skate. When I was six 

I wanted to be eight.

What do I want to be  ten and it's hard to wait.

It's the same for my daddy for again and again.

Gee whiz sighs Daddy 

I wish I were ten.
