Monday June 8 Devotional
Noah and the Flood
The descendents of Adam and Eve lived all over the world. But God saw that the people had become wicked and he decided to destroy every human being and living creature he had created. Only one man and family were good the man was Noah. God told Noah to build a great ship or ark. The ship was made of cypress wood. It was covered with pitch inside and out to make it waterproof. There were three decks, which were divided into small rooms. A row of windows ran around the top of the ship. God said to Noah his wife their three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth and their wives went to get into the ark. They also had to take with them a male and female pair of every kind of animal and bird. God told Noah that he would never again destroy everything in the world by a flood. A rainbow would be a sign to remind people of this promise.
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
