anne of green gables 8

The little girl chattered all the way home. Her talk made Matthew a bit dizzy but he found himself enjoying her company. This little girl was not like the Avonlea children who made Matthew nervous. He liked her chatter and so he let her talk as much as she wanted to. As last they came to the crest of a hill. Matthew said, we're pretty near home now. There's Green Gables. The little

girl stared in wonder down into the

valley which glowed in the mellow

afterlight of sunset. Then her gaze

traveled to the hills beyond where snug

farms nestled along the slope. Her new home. In addition, listen to the trees talking in their sleep, the child whispered as Matthew drove the buggy

into the yard. What nice dreams they must have. Matthew however, was uneasy He knew that arrangements to send the child back to the orphanage would have to be made. He was very glad that this was Marilla's responsibility.  Marilla was waiting for them in the house. When her eyes fell on the little girl she said in amazement Matthew Cutbbert who's that Where is the boy? There wasn't any boy Matthew said, miserably

There was only her. The little girl suddenly understood what was going on. You don't want me! she cried. Nobody has ever wanted me. I might have known this was all too beautiful to last Then she burst into tears. There's no need to cry about it Marilla said sternly.
