The days passed and Anne made herself quite at home at Green Gables. She loved playing in the woods and spent every spare minute in the orchard or down the brook. The trees and flowers became her closest friends. One day Mrs. Rachel Lynde came to visit. She was curious about the orphan girl but had a chance to come to Green Gables to  see her for herself. So she was happy to visit with Marilla especially when her friend went to the door and called Anne inside. Anne burst in her bright red hair flying around her Well they didn't pick you for your looks that's for sure was the first thing Mrs Lynde said, You're awful skinny and homely. Did anyone ever see such freckles., And hair as red as carrots.
