 Civil War chapter 1 page 1 part 1

Many soldiers from both 

the North and the South 

were killed in the Civil 

War. In addition, the South had

started a new country called the 

Confederate States of America.

President Lincoln did not want the

North to fight against the South. He

wanted the South to become part 

of the United States again.  The Union 

is another name for the United States. The

South did not want a war. However,  the South

did not want to be part for the Union.
